Perugia Airport, or Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi Airport, is the gateway to Italy's lovely Umbria region. Umbria lies in the center of Italy, and Perugia is the capital city of the whole region. Perugia Airport is located just a 19-minute drive from the city center, about 12 km distance. A single terminal serves both arrivals and departures, a single runway some 2,199 meters long and 45 meters wide serves all aircraft movements.

Umbria borders on Tuscany, Lazio and Le Marche, and is brimming with picturesque medieval towns and villages that nestle on forested hillsides. Umbria is particularly famous for its wines and truffles, but also boasts a spectacular art collection at the Calleria Nazionale dell'Umbria, which is housed in the equally amazing medieval Palazzo dei Priori, a tourist attraction in its own right. Assisi, the birthplace of St Francis of Assisi, Terni, Gubbio, Spoleto, Orvieto, Norcia, Montepulciano and San Benedotte del Tronto are all within an easy driving distance of Perugia Airport.

A flight ticket office is also located inside the terminal. This office is open Mondays from 8.00 to 16.00 hours, Tuesdays from 14.00 to 22.00 hours, Wednesdays from 8.00 to 16.00 hours, Thursdays from 8.00 to 22.00 hours, Fridays from 8.00 to 16.00 hours and Saturdays from 14.00 to 22.00 hours. On Sundays the ticket office opens from 8.00 to 16.00 hours. Airlines flying in and out of Perugia Airport are Ryanair, Albawings and blu-express. At Perugia Airport passengers can choose flight routes Brussels, Catania, London, Malta and Tirana.

The terminal also contains an ATM where credit cards can be used, two shops selling men's and ladies' fashions, a restaurant and bar.

Buses at Perugia Airport

A bus stop is located just outside the main terminal exit. Busitalia operates services that run between Perugia city, Assisi and Foligno and other intermediate stops like Bastia Umbra. For example, Busitalia Line E007 runs between Perugia, Petrignano and Assisi, while Line E422 runs between the airport, Perugia and Foligno. A ticket for Perugia costs just 2.50 euros, if bought in advance at the airport. Buying onboard the bus from the driver costs 3.50 euros. A ticket for Assisi costs just 3.00 euros one way. Going to Foligno costs 4.20 euros per person, buying in advance, and 5.20 euros per person, if buying onboard the bus. Advance tickets can be purchased at Perugia Airport's bar.

The ACAP-SULGA express shuttle runs between Perugia Airport, the city centre train station and other intermediate stops. A return ticket costs 14.00 euros per person, a single ticket 8.00 euros. This service needs to be booked in advance with ACAP, on tel +39 075 500 9641 or 800 099 661 toll free.
